What can I expect when I visit?

Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors.

Our community is...

  • welcoming and open to all
  • a safe place to ask questions, no matter
where you are on your faith journey
  • open to new ideas -- allowing freedom to take the initiative
in whatever manner you might choose to serve God through
    this church

What time is your service?
at 11 AM [Labor Day—July]
or 10 AM [July—Labor Day]
The worship service lasts for about one hour.

What type of worship service do you have?
The service is traditional with the emphasis on God's great love for us shown through Jesus Christ.

Do I have to dress up?
Only if you are comfortable doing so. In our services you will see people in dresses, suit and tie; but you will also see Dockers, jeans and t-shirts. Please feel free to where what is comfortable for you.

Do I have to stand up, sign up or be singled out in any way?
In a word, no. We believe that you will be more comfortable meeting people seated around you. In addition, our greeters welcome you and give you a bulletin so that you can easily follow along and participate in the worship service.

How do I get there?

Do you have programs for children?
There is a Sunday School program for children which runs during the worship hour. The children go to Sunday School after the Gospel reading.
Your children are always welcome to stay with you during services for as long as you are comfortable. If you need to "take a break" with them during service, the ushers can direct you to some areas for respite.

Do I have to give money?
No. Members voluntarily give to help support our ministries and also to pay various expenses we incur as a church. Our worship service is our gift to you as a guest.
In time, if you decide to become a regular part of our church, you may decide that you would like to participate monetarily in our various ministries. At that time, we would joyfully welcome your participation.

How do you convey your views of God?
Our emphasis is on the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ. He did not come to earth to condemn us. Instead, He came to give us life. And so, while we feel it is important to recognize that we all have fallen short of God's ideals, it is even more important to emphasize the freedom and complete life through our faith in Christ.

How can I get connected at Lovely Lane UMC?
Check our Getting Connected page. There are opportunities to get to know us at your own pace. Also, after every service there is a fellowship hour in Lovely Lane Hall [Labor Day—July] or out front on the Portico [July—Labor Day].

How can I further my faith journey?
Following the model of John Wesley, the founder of The Methodist Church, we encourage spiritual growth through:
- worship attendance
- prayer
- Bible study
- stewardship and action in ministries
